Regional Archives Peace Human Rights
The regional Archives Peace Human Rights were instituted through the regional law No. 18 of 30 March 1988, in collaboration with the Interdepartmental Centre on Human Rights and the Rights of Peoples of Padua University. At present their activity is regulated by the regional law No. 55 of 16 December 1999.
The main aim of the Archives is the diffusion of the knowledge, purposes and objectives stated in the regional law No. 55 of 16 December 1999.
The Archives carry out the following activities:
- collecting and spreading documents, studies, research works, publications dealing with the promotion and protection of human rights, peace culture, development cooperation and international solidarity;
- providing schools, voluntary organizations, non governmental organizations, research centres, local and regional authorities, national institutions for human rights, as well as individual experts and citizens with information and documentation on these issues;
- filing the associations, the non governmental organizations, as well as the public and private bodies located in Veneto, that operate in the field of human rights, peace culture, development cooperation and international solidarity and updating this data archive;
- supporting the education in human rights, human development and international solidarity, also within schools, in collaboration with the UNESCO Chair on Human Rights, Democracy and Peace that was established in 1999 at Padua University;
- supporting the educational activity of the three-year degree in political Sciences and international Relations / Curriculum international Relations and human Rights and of the specialist degree in “Institutions and Policies of human Rights and Peace” of Padua University;
- giving scientific support to the activities of the Committee for human Rights and a peace Culture and to the Committee for development Cooperation, that are provided for respectively by articles 12 and 14 of regional law No. 55 of 16 December 1999;
- giving scientific support to the Region in the organization of the annual regional Conference on development cooperation, peace and human rights, as well as in the awarding of Prize “Veneto for peace and solidarity among peoples”, provided for by Regional Law No. 55/1999, and in the regional participation in congress and promotion events in Italy and abroad.
